ENGLISH IN THE HEART OF PARIS

The United Kingdom has, recently, been dismissed by a Russian politician as being a small Ireland to which no one listen to any longer.
I am in Paris on Sunday 8th September 2013. As I came out from Trocadero metro station, my ears are flooded with louder speakers broadcasting in English very distinctive meditation lyrics. As I rushed through the station stairs  to satisfy my curiosity, I was strike by an Asian group that has staged a protest at location back grounded the famous Eiffel tower.

I was interested in the actual protest, it is the language of communication broadcast through the speakers that stroke accord with me. Did the group purposely targeted English speakers in Paris or just assumed that all who came to the site of protest will get the message.
Besides, there was not any single venue or business I visited that could not serve me due language barrier as there was not any barriers - the majority of French speak English.
So long as English as a language will continue to expand, even Russians will agree that this small Ireland is still as powerful as ever.
