Meet an Angolan boxer who missed his fight at London 2012

It was supposed to be an historic journey in life for Tumba Silva, an Angolan boxer, who arrived in London two weeks ago to represent his country in a discipline of his specialism. It was not going to be as his coach who went out the night before was still sleeping at the time of the fight for being too drunk.

What a waste. On the day of the fight with the Italian, the boxer was relaxing in his room at the Olympic village waiting for directions from his coach.

MEETING THE WORLD'S ATHLETES

The history in making at a venue previously unknown to the world. Sainsbury's Stratford City located in the Mall at Stratford Centre was not designed for Olympic events, but has recently been rejuvinated to play a front line representation of the company as whole.

Today, it has become a destination for the Olympians. As an Official Paralympic proud sponsor, the trends of visits from fans and athletes to the store is expected to reach high levels by the time the games finish in September 2012.

If you have not been in the area, here are some of the scenes and the different views that you may come across

SAINSBSURY'S STRATFORD CITY IS THE BEST LOCATION TO MEET OLYMPIANS AND FANS

Nine months ago, I requested a transfer and I did not have a clue where my Regional Operations Manager will post me next. And it happened to be Stratford branch, which 10 minutes by London Overground from home. At the time, I did not fully realise what this location may bring to life, and that first time I set my feet there, I have never regreted having to leave big Beckton store - a posh store in the middle of nowhere.

As Olympic games 2012 build on, my sense of dream come true entered its realisation stage. I joined the PR team of the store, and not for long, we started to make headways across the company. But the memories that I will have collected after London 2012 will never be forgotten for centuries. Below find some of those memories at the London 2012 is on his way 5 days since:

WELCOME TO SAINSBURY'S STRATFORD CITY: THE OLYMPIC MAKE UP IS READY

Sainsbury's Stratford City is beyond recognition for those who have not been there for long time, and the make up that is lifting the spirit of all colleagues has just been complete. Though all languages are not represented through walls, there is nothing to worry about, this has over 250 colleagues from different backgrounds and will be there to make your shopping experience enjoyable. So if you are looking forward to live well for less, this the sign to look for.

The Olympic opening ceremony is on 27th July 2012, and no one knows what that day will bring to the area, previously known as deprived, but that is now the thing of the past considering the level of investments that the Great Summer Games of London 2012 have attracted in such a short space of time.

SAINSBURY'S STRATFORD CITY IS PROUD TO BE THE AUSTRALIAN OLYMPIC TEAM PARTNER

Sainsbury's Stratford City is proud partner with the Australian Olympic team. On 17th July 2012, two delegates of the Australian Olympic team - Meg and Shaun - visited our store where they held a planning meeting with the store's governor, Mark Twell, to discuss the ways of working. Mark Twell will be ensuring that no Australian will go hungry to the games during this Great Summer Games of London 2012. This is major challenge, but our man is well equiped to live up to the Australian expectations.
